Sequel MCP
Database access for coding agents, with the risky parts gated.
Sequel MCP gives Codex, Claude Code, and other MCP clients controlled access to MySQL, MariaDB, and SQLite. Reads can stay quick; writes can require confirmation, a backup, and a clear record.

What matters
Policy first
Set a connection baseline and tighter table rules. The strictest rule wins across every table a statement touches.
Writes need a yes
Read, write, DDL, admin, and transaction actions are separate. Risky statements wait for an explicit approval.
A way back
Mutations can create a backup first, restores start as a dry run, and an append-only log records what happened.
Try it
Start from the terminal.
Install the single Rust binary and register its stdio server with Codex. The README also has setup examples for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, and other MCP clients.
