eaShot is available on the Mac App Store. One-time purchase, no subscription. Universal binary for Apple silicon and Intel, macOS 15 or later. Updates come through the App Store automatically.
Install
- Open the Mac App Store on your Mac and search for eaShot, or use the link above.
- Click the price to buy, then click Install. The app downloads like any other App Store app.
- Open eaShot from Applications. It lives in your menu bar—there is no Dock icon.
Allow Screen Recording
On first launch, eaShot shows a short explanation and a Continue button. macOS requires this one-time permission for capturing pixels. Approve eaShot in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Screen Recording, then relaunch if macOS asks.
Your first capture
Choose Left, Right, Top, Bottom, or Full from the menu-bar picker. A successful choice becomes your next Quick Capture by default. Open Settings from the gear to record a global shortcut, choose clipboard or folder output, or turn off remembering and pin a preset. Shortcuts start unset so eaShot does not take over an existing macOS key combination.
Remove
Quit eaShot and delete it from Applications. Disable Launch at Login first if enabled. You can revoke the Screen Recording permission in System Settings at any time. macOS may keep the permission decision even after uninstalling; reset it with tccutil reset ScreenCapture com.xicao.eashot if you plan to reinstall fresh.
